Snowbound in Lawrence as streets stay treacherous
Snow blanketed the area with main streets clear but side roads blocked. Lawrence officials halted all bus and call a ride service while drivers helped stranded motorists. Blowing and drifting snow and teens to 20s temperatures with 20 to 30 mph winds kept travel hazardous. A family spent the night in a car until a passerby rescued them and invited them inside. Christmas remembered for harsh weather and resilience.
