Michigan artist lassos lint into Madonna sculpture in church

Grand Rapids artist Amy Greving created a life size Madonna and child from dryer lint gathered from a 750 member congregation at First Reformed Church of Grandville. Over three months she built a wire frame, applied a papier mache like coating, and used metallic paint to finish the piece. The lint sculpture, light enough to be carried by two people, drew gifts of lint from many members after initial skepticism. Greving plans a Joseph sculpture for next year.
