Young Navy Aviation Machinist Linley Dies of Newport News Car Crash
Alfred Daniel Linley 22 died from injuries after being struck by a car while waiting for a bus in Newport News Virginia on Christmas Eve. He was a Navy aviation machinist’s mate first class stationed in Norfolk since October and had enlisted in February 1942. Born January 24 1920 in Atchison he studied at the University of Kansas before moving with his family to Lawrence in 1933. Funeral services will be held in Atchison. He is survived by his parents four brothers and one sister.
