Seamen at the machinists mates training school at the University of Kansas enjoyed a Christmas holiday by order of Admiral John Downs. Those on duty had a Christmas feast at the Union mess hall, with a turkey dinner and plum pudding. Gifts were distributed by the Coed Volunteer Corps and the school staff acted as Santa. Many sailors received family invites, and a Christmas dance at the Community building was hosted by the Women’s Athletic Association.

Fire damages Fox Palace Theater in Wichita
