Do You Know 1929 33 Federal Financial Condition
Questions cover the national government's finances in the Great Depression era, redemption obligations on a large gold reserve, the meaning of redemption obligations for money, current national debt level, and other objections to a large national debt beyond bankruptcy risks noted in Roosevelt's Pittsburgh speech.
Comparative World Debt and Redemption Provisions
The 1929 national debt stood at about 17 billion with the public debt later rising to around 50 billion. Redemption provisions include 700 to 800 million in various notes and coins redeemable in gold, with the treasury notes silver dollars and related issues. Tax burden rises from both principal payments and annual interest.
