Funeral services held for Herbert H. Mack prominent Kansas auto dealer

Herbert H. Mack of Topeka and Lawrence, 77, died Saturday night after a long illness. Funeral services were at Penwell-Gabel in Topeka with Mount Hope Abbey burial. Survivors include his widow Gertrude, three daughters, three brothers, a sister, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Mack founded Mosby-Mack, led University Ford Sales, and served as director of the National Automobile Dealers Association and Kansas Motor Car Dealers Assn. He was active in Masonic work.

Bellingers Stop Here En Route to Africa

Mr and Mrs Earl Bellinger and sons Christopher and Eric arrived in Lawrence for a holiday visit before an Africa assignment. They will depart Jan 4 for Usumbura Burundi where Bellinger will serve as administrative officer at the U S Embassy. He has worked with the United Nations in the Congo and with the Post Exchange service in Morocco and Europe. The family has trained in the State Department for their new posting.

Frost in hopeful condition after surgery

Poet Robert Frost aged 88 is reported in hopeful condition after undergoing surgery at Peter Bant Brisara hospital. He was admitted December 10 for an undisclosed ailment and remains under care.

Lawrence Family Loses $200 in Christmas Gifts

The Cecil Moller family at 913 Sunset Dr had about $200 worth of wrapped Christmas gifts stolen in a burglary. Entry was gained via an unlocked garage and the intruders pried open the door to the house.

Snowy Season Outlook Hits Kansas and Surrounding States

A 23 year old student teacher Miss Bobby Jean Greenlee arrived at her parents’ Belleville Kansas home at 1 30 a m exhausted and cold after an unexplained Christmas trip. She had planned to drive from Prairie Village to Belleville and stayed in a Concordia motel from 1 30 a m Saturday to 6 30 a m Sunday.
