New Highway Project Advances With Nine Mile Grading Bid
Bids were opened by the state highway commission for nine miles of grading and four bridges on a new concrete link between Lawrence and Kansas City Missouri. Aldrich Kansas City Kansas is the low bidder on grading and rock work, Jensen Construction Co. of Kimbleton the low bidder on bridges. Formal contracts to be set December 29 in Topeka. The project aims to ease the bottle neck at Lawrence by creating a paved bypass toward Kansas City and a shorter, safer route with new bridges and viaducts, including a planned eastern extension and a route avoiding the Santa Fe crossing at Eudora.

Oil producers seek new markets after Prairie withdraws
Ten thousand independent oil producers in southeastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma face losing their outlet as Prairie Oil and Gas withdraws as a purchaser effective January 1. A conference of crude oil buyers and pipeline carriers is set for Friday in Tulsa to arrange an outlet. From zoo to meat market in Sacramento bear sale
