Montpelier Vermont December 23 Frank C Partridge proctor and businessman was appointed by Governor Weeks as United States senator to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Frank L Greene. Partridge will serve until a special election March 31. He is 71 and a Republican with prior posts including secretary to the secretary of war solicitor in the state department and special envoy to Venezuela. He also presides over the Vermont Marble Company.
Topeka announces an inquiry into bread prices in Kansas after a complaint alleging a price fixing scheme by major baking firms. State Attorney General Rol and Boynton says he will confer with the U S Attorney General Mitch ell and Nebraska officials to compare findings. Hutchinson attorney F Dumont Smith provided the initial complaint.
