Salt Domes on Kansas Turnpike Serve as Safe Salt Stores
The Kansas Turnpike Authority explains that the domed structures along the turnpike are salt domes used to store salt and sand for winter maintenance. The storage is environmentally safe since de icing chemicals are kept inside. The KTA buys sand and salt in late summer to ensure stock for winter months. Sunflower Cablevision weighs automatic payment options as a new customer convenience. If adopted, customers would receive notice with their statements. The Lawrence Public Library bathrooms at 707 Vt are under renovation and expected to finish by early January.
