Allied Air Fights Stall Nazi Drive Toward Sedan

Allied air power returned to the Nazi offensive as bad weather eased, with heavy and fighter bombers striking at German armor. Reports say von Rundstedt’s drive reached 29 miles from Sedan by Thursday noon, amid fierce fighting near Bastogne St. Vith and Luxembourg Belgian borders, while U S forces held ground between St Vith and Vielsalm. Government Orders All Race Tracks to Close

Washington December 28 The government ordered a complete shutdown of all animal racing in the country. War Mobilization Director James F Byrnes asked track owners to close by January 8 1945 in a move to halt horse and dog racing nationwide. Car and truck collision injures Mary Patterson

Mrs. Mary Patterson of 1305 Brook Street sustained a nose cut from broken glass when her car rear ended a three ton trailer truck on Thirteenth Street around 8 PM.
