Women miss reconstruction options before breast cancer surgery
A study of 1,178 women from 2001 to 2003 found only one third discussed cosmetic reconstruction with surgeons before surgery. Researchers note many patients are not told options, which can influence choosing mastectomy over lumpectomy, with experts calling for better patient–doctor communication.
