Shoppers gain momentum after slow start to holidays
Retailers report a slow December start due to an ice storm and snow that kept shoppers home. Weavers president Joe Flannery notes weather typically slows late year sales, but activity has picked up this week as warmer weather returns. Toys from The Toy Store and Blue Dandelion show demand for non Chinese made items, especially German toys amid recalls. With four days left before Christmas, stores hope peak season matches or surpasses last year. Shopper comments reflect time constraints and late starts by Kansas University senior Tyler Martin and Debbie Pelzer.
