Dr. Christopher T. Allen born October 7 1958 in Independence Missouri passed away December 14 2024 at home beloved husband to Peggy father of Katie Chris Emily and Anna and grandfather to nine. A University of Kansas engineer and professor he led radar and photonics research at Sandia and KU earning teaching awards and several patents. Funeral plans set at Corpus Christi Catholic Church Lawrence Kansas with a rosary December 19 and funeral Mass December 20 donations requested to Catholic Charities Northeast Kansas or Corpus Christi Catholic School.
Helen Maxine Gregory Langhofer, 92, of Lawrence Kansas, died December 8 2024. A private burial was held last week with no funeral services. Warren-McElwain handled arrangements.
Bernardino Ramon Vega, age 37, died December 14, 2024. A Funeral Mass is set for 2:00 PM Friday December 20, 2024 at St. John’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

Parkin and Desmond Perez watch as families pets and runners enjoy a 260 foot tunnel of golden lights stretching from the Douglas County Court house to the park gazebo. Forestry workers built the PVC tunnel deploying about 650 light strands and a citywide surplus of lights. The display stays up through Valentine’s Day and promises to return bigger next year.
