Paddock Chosen As City Police Judge In Lawrence

James W. Bill Paddock named city police judge succeeding Jack Maxwell who resigns. The change takes effect January 1 after appointment by City Manager Harold Horn. Paddock, current city prosecuting attorney, will be replaced by Ralph King. Maxwell has served as police judge since April 1953. Paddock has practiced law in Lawrence since February 1956 after Kansas University Law School graduation.

Conzemius to Take Over at Sunflower When Jones Leaves

Second Lt. Robert J. Conzenvus will assume command of Sunflower Ordnance Works as Maj. Richard R. Jones retires December 31 and moves to a Food Machinery and Chemical Corp post in Lakeland Flat. Conzemius arrived at Sunflower July and was named executive officer September 18, succeeding Capt. Stewart. Jones, ROTC 1956 grad from North Dakota Agricultural College, previously led Maumette Ordnance Works and served in World War II and Korea, earning the Bronze Star and other honors. Plans call for Sunflower personnel reductions next summer amid Clothballing efforts at the 10086 acre site east of Panereence.

Christmas Special Train Visits Lawrence With Free Rides
