Take Our Youth Shopping Brings Joy to Local Officers
Ballard Community Services hosted Take Our Youth Shopping TOYS, a holiday event for 3 to 5 year olds in its programs. Officers and deputies from Douglas and Franklin counties participated, providing a distraction from duty as families browsed toys clothes and jewelry they might not otherwise afford. Shoemaker, a veteran officer in his 22nd year with the patrol, described the kids as carefree and cheerful, noting the smile they bring to law enforcement personnel.
