Greyhound OK'd for temporary stop at Sixth and New Hampshire
The Lawrence City Commission unanimously approved a temporary Greyhound bus stop at Sixth and New Hampshire streets for up to six months while a permanent Lawrence location is sought. Greyhound regional manager has approached North Lawrence property owners, including gas stations, hotels, and Tanger Factory Outlet Center, about a lasting stop, but no agreement yet. The city memorandum notes Greyhound must find a temporary site or risk losing service in Lawrence.

Housing Authority cleared to buy six unit building in Lawrence
The Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority won City Commission approval 3-2 to purchase a six unit apartment building at 1725 New Hampshire St for 485000 with minor renovations 12000 to 15000. The plan is to lease rent controlled units to youths aging out of foster care. The deal exceeds the appraised price by 195000 amid competition with Dillons which had a prior contract to pay 485000 and sought rezoning to commercial use.

Oread tax district questions spark local briefing
City officials continue examining the Oread special taxing district amid concerns over its operation. The city hired Allen Gibbs and Houlik to review how the district has directed more than 2 million dollars to the development group behind The Oread hotel.
