County aims to sell jail expansion to voters in 2018 bond plan
Douglas County commissioners say they can persuade voters to approve a 44 million dollar jail expansion plan approved last month. The 179 additional beds would boost the 186 bed facility and fit six design options from Treanor Architects. The campaign will stress meeting current needs and future demand, inmate mental health, and bringing county inmates back for reentry programs.
