High standards in teacher training at Kansas emphasized
The English teacher program at the University of Kansas builds from psychology and measurement to methods and internships. Prospective teachers observe junior and senior high classes, evaluate student writing, and complete an eight week practice teaching under supervision. The program aims to deepen understanding, prevent discouragement, and promote ongoing study. The effort, now in its sixth year, received national recognition and exemplifies university-wide collaboration across departments.
