Gateway project to revitalize KU area with hotel, plaza and apartments
KU plans a 162 room Marriott hotel, two student apartment towers with 443 beds, a 20,000 square foot outdoor plaza and a two level underground parking garage as part of the Gateway Project. The plan includes 85 million in public incentives and 100 million from donors plus private partner investment. Officials say the development could boost Lawrence tourism by about 100 million annually and become a year round center linked to stadium revamp already underway.
