Mike Dever, KU environmental studies and geography graduate, spent nearly 40 years as a land use consultant before returning to city politics. City OKs revamp of Mass for bike lanes
Lawrence city commissioners approved a 494 915 design contract with Trekk Design Group to redo a Mass Street segment from 6th to 23rd Street adding outer five foot bike lanes and a three foot median while shrinking car lanes from four to three. The plan, part of the Lawrence Bicycle Plan priority network, aims to separate vehicular and bicycle traffic with one northbound lane, one southbound lane and a central turning lane. Projected construction around 5.6 million includes utilities upgrades. grants totaling 3.37 million are secured with others pending. No construction timeline set.

Douglas County weighs $82 million for JLEC and Public Safety building
