Dolph Simons editor and president of the Journal-World is named deputy chairman of the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. The appointment takes effect Jan. 1 and follows his tenure as a Kansas City Reserve Bank director since January.

John F Metsker Dies at Lawrence Memorial Hospital
John Franklin Metsker 86 of 721 Mo St died this morning at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He served as Douglas County treasurer from 1926 for four years and as county home superintendent 1931 to 1941, later ran a private rest home until 1959. He was a 23 year member and treasurer 14 years of the Assembly of God Church. Burial in Washington Creek Cemetery. Rumsey Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include wife Pearl, two daughters Alyce Larson and Ethel Frantz, a son Claude, a brother Jess Metsker, a sister Ida Hoover, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
