Old Santa to Arrive Next Week in Lawrence Parade
A simple Christmas observance in Lawrence will launch with a Santa Claus parade on Friday evening December 18 at 4. The gasless and rubberless parade will feature Saint Nick in a horse drawn sleigh escorted by 12 riders and three accompanying vehicles. Local bands from Liberty Memorial High School KU and Haskell will provide music. A Nativity Scene float designed by Bernard Frazier will be built by the Chamber of Commerce. Carolers will tour the city December 21 and 22 under the Ministerial Alliance. The climax is a community sing on Wednesday at 7 30 on Eighth Street with the bands and Santa present and broadcast at 8 over WREN.
