President Roosevelt disclosed in the seventh quarterly lend lease report that U S forces overseas will exceed 1 000 000 by month end four times the three month total prior to U S entry. He noted axis powers temporarily lost the initiative and urged united action.
Chinese high command reports a fresh Japanese offensive in Yunnan province aimed at Kunming. Six thousand Japanese troops attacked in three columns December 6, with fierce night fighting continuing as Chinese forces hold lines north of Tengyueh and west of the Salween river.

Woodward Oklahoma December 11 milk distributors here agreed to raise prices by December 15 with or without Office of Price Administration approval Farmers threatened to quit deliveries if the increase is not granted Milk now sells for 10 cents a quart and will be 12 cents after the increase OPA reported approval in Oklahoma City but final Dallas regional office permission was pending.
Kansas Governor Ratner announces 1943 budget plan totaling 19,067,365 for general revenue. He notes 2.8 million less than requested and 39 thousand below two years ago. Budget includes 36 thousand for state defense council and allocations for executive, legislative, hospital, and soldiers home needs. Governor-elect Schoeppe aids budget process.
Kansas Interstate Cooperation Commission declines to back a wartime power bill. They send the plan to the 1943 legislature committees for study and compare measures from other states. The nuts donated by the Administration Marketing association arrive in December or January and hulls are thin and easy to remove. He noted a possible shortage of black walnuts since trees were cut for gunstocks.
Government suspends induction for men 88 and older delaying December 21 call. Only 17 of 37 are ready, 46 would have been inducted soon but are blocked. December 14 quota of 33 can be met. December 26 call for 11 likely filled. Details list 17 names with orders and locations, and note delays from screening to induction.

Tuesday evening December 15 is the deadline for rental property registration in Douglas county. By then any living quarters for rent must be listed with the OPA rent office in Lawrence. Walter T.
