Since 1905 patents total 1 739 617 acres and 46 140 640 in net revenue. Agricultural lands average 8.39 per acre. university lands average about 3 per acre. normal school lands average 41 per acre.
In Washington on December 1, Lamar of Florida demanded a discussion with Minority Leader Williams about committee seats. Williams objected to maintain harmony and effectiveness. A caucus was urged for tomorrow, but no commitment. Lamar was removed from the Interstate and Foreign Commerce Committee.
Washington Dec 11 The senate convened to receive a House message transmitting an emergency bill of 411,000,000 to aid construction of the Panama Canal. During bill introductions numerous floor conferences sought referral to the appropriations committee for the Inter-oceanic canal committees.
The State Temperance union will send an emissary to the White House to personally appeal to President Roosevelt regarding the whisky tight in Kansas. The effort aims to gain federal intervention or support in the local temperance movement.

Washington Dec 11 The question of jurisdiction in the Caleb Powers murder case was presented to the U S Supreme Court as a motion for leave to file a petition for a writ of mandamus. The motion seeks to command U S Judge Cochran to remand the case to state courts and restore Powers to custody in Scott county where a fourth trial was to begin before federal jurisdiction intervened. The state was represented by Lawrence Maxwell Jr and Governor Yates urged dismissal of the appeal. Both sides asked for a January 1 hearing but no date was set.

Kansas City dates confirm M. M. Letts once Santa Fe clerk at Princeton Kansas stole seventy thousand dollars in railroad tickets and burned the depot to hide the crime. He was arrested in Panama and used an assumed name as a purchasing dept clerk for the Panama Canal Commission. Letts had escaped multiple times since a 1903 arson robbery conviction in Ottawa Kansas.
