East bound Santa Fe California passenger train No. 6 collided with an extra freight near Caddor Colorado. Engines interlocked, seven box cars damaged, several passengers bruised. No deaths reported. Also reports include arrests in Kansas City for murder, political appointments, bank robbery, and other scattered notices from December 9.
Washington sources report Secretary Metcalf dismissed charges filed by the World's Fair Navigation company of St. Louis against Archibald Gordon, a local inspector of bulls at the port. In Cherryvale Kansas a year has brought rapid growth in independent oil refineries. From one plant at Humboldt producing 200 barrels daily to five operating and four under construction. By January more refineries begin output and, after four months, all five will be in full operation. Independent output could exceed 11 500 barrels daily.
Cleveland report says O L Hayes, president of Galion National Bank, found guilty of violating national banking laws, and Edward Flickinger, president of Flickinger Wheel Co, convicted of aiding and abetting in misappropriation of bank funds. Each faces seven and a half years in state pen. Bank loaned funds to the wheel company.

Leavenworth Kansas December 9 Lewis Umker died last night at the age of 100. He was born November 7 1789 in Marysville Kentucky and lived in Kansas for forty four years. He was the oldest man in the state.
Local leaders of the post and telegraph strike recall encouraging pews from Moscow and make desperate efforts to rally followers to continue the strike to the bitter end.
Ex Governor John W. Leedy, now in Valdez Alaska, practices law and promotes a new railroad to the Interior. He visited Seattle to solicit capital, met city officials and a band at the wharf, and spoke at a banquet. Valdez is named as the railroad’s initial point amid a booster campaign and transportation delays.
Washington December 9 The secretary of the treasury announced authorization to pay interest on United States government bonds due January 1 1906 and December 15 1905. Coupons due January 1 will be paid on December 15. Checks for the anticipated interest total about 4 200 000.
