Gov Brownback backs audit of foster care and adoption
Gov Sam Brownback said he favors an audit of Kansas foster care and adoption programs amid criticism that the Department of Children and Families discriminates against same sex couples in adoptions and foster care. He disagreed with calls to oust DCF head Phyllis Gilmore citing her experience. Efficiency firm to State promises millions in savings
Topeka officials from Alva rez & Marsal say they will identify hundreds of millions in savings and efficiencies in their final report to the Legislature in January. Senator Ty Masterson says the firm will likely pay for itself as lawmakers note their $2.6 million contract since September. The firm is auditing executive agencies and K-12 but not the legislative or judicial branches.
