Jury Deliberations Begin in Westar Fraud Case
Federal fraud trial of two former Westar Energy executives David Wittig and Douglas Lake nears verdict. After seven weeks of testimony a six man six woman jury will deliberate on 40 counts each alleging personal use of company planes, conflicted deals, and a planned merger and spin off of unregulated businesses with potential millions in gains. Defense argues no crime and says Westar management scapegoated them amid unresolved compensation disputes.
