Electors to Meet Dec 15 for Presidential Vote
Federal electors are to assemble in the 48 states on December 15 to cast ballots for the next president. The joint session on January 6 will count the votes. Eisenhower leads Stevenson 8 to 0 by state results, and electors may break with custom. In 1948 a Tennessee elector voted for Strom Thurmond, splitting that state's votes. If no candidate wins a majority, the House elects the president from the top three candidates, one vote per state.
