Tyson Foods to close Emporia meat plant in 2025

Tyson Foods will permanently shut its Emporia meat plant in February 2025 eliminating over 800 jobs. The facility, a ground beef and marinated protein plant, is part of the company's broader cost cutting and efficiency plan amid losses in the beef unit.

Douglas County opens pilot easement program for landowners

Douglas County and the Kansas Land Trust invite rural landowners to apply for a ARPA funded pilot program to place perpetual conservation easements on property in Douglas County. Up to 225000 supports development and enforcement costs with sessions to inform on January dates and a February 28, 2025 deadline.
