Cable car rampage on San Francisco hill injures 43

In a heavy downpour on Hyde Street near Fisherman’s Wharf, a six ton cable car ran out of control smashing into a car and nine others. Ambulances carried 43 people to four hospitals with burns and bruises. James Van Baalen is in critical condition. The incident prompted investigation into the car’s grip and braking systems.

Warmer Weather Expected as Snowmelts This Weekend

A warming trend is forecast for most of the week after Saturday's two inch snowstorm. The storm disrupted Lawrence area utilities and traffic with rain and snow causing telephone lines to fail and rural outages affecting about 100 customers. Kansas Turnpire officials remind motorists to slow for deer runs after three Sunday incidents near Lawrence. A deer killed a patrol car near West Lawrence and another deer crippled a car eight miles away. total damage and injuries undisclosed.

Town Hall Meeting Set at Pinckney School

The City Commission schedules its next town hall for 8 p m Tuesday at Pinckney School 810 W 6th St. This will be the sixth session since starting on Sept 19 with prior Oct 31 meeting at West Junior High. Lynch Sentenced To Life In Prison For Crime Spree

Donald Lee Lynch 27 of Dayton Ohio received life imprisonment for first degree kidnapping and first degree robbery after pleading guilty to a June 26 27 crime spree that killed night clerk Thomas Daniels 25 at the Virginia Inn. He also drew 10 21 years for an armed robbery at Underwood liquor Store. The sentences run consecutively with no parole.

Critical Plea On Blood Here Urges Donations

New York AP reports Harry Wismer, 53, former sports announcer and organizer of the American Football League, died today. Cause of death not immediately given.
