National Guard Reorganization Aims to Realign Units
The Pentagon outlined a nationwide reorganization shifting about two thirds of Reserve and Guard personnel to priority units of top caliber. It plans to eliminate 1,800 non essential units and form over 1,000 new ones, net 731 fewer units distributed as military needs permit. Missouri’s adjutant general said plans are being worked out with Gov Dalton to address impacts. Kansas will designate the city for brigade headquarters with troops assigned in Missouri and Kansas.

Dense New York fog shuts three major airports and disrupts ships
A heavy fog enveloped the New York area causing the closure of Idlewild LaGuardia and Newark airports. About 200 Idlewild flights were affected with many canceled or delayed.
