Dunkley Honored for 54 Years at Local Gas Company
Francis Henry Dunkley 77 died yesterday at his home 633 Maine street after 54 years with the gas firm. He immigrated from Northampton England in 1882 and worked as a gas maker before moving to the service department and later heading the meter repair unit. He was celebrated for 50 years of service about 15 years ago. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 pm from Rumsey Funeral Home. Kansas Public Service offices will close 1 45 to 3 pm for employees to attend.

Her husband George E. Conover, a University of Kansas senior, and her brother Edwin Garber aided the search. Open New Mud Creek Bridge Improves Flood Control
County Engineer Trueblood reports completion of a 120 foot reinforced concrete bridge on the Mud Creek channel. A 13 000 cubic yard fill raised the structure above flood stage, with 1 300 feet of channel straightening to improve flow and reduce flood risk.
