Mrs. Eunice Jones of Oklahoma City asserted the October 1934 victim found on a road near Kansas City is her sister Mrs. Elizabeth Comer. She matched teeth, scars, and clothing to the murdered woman, linking to Chester Comer who died after a roadside gunfight in Oklahoma.
Dr. James Henry Breasted, famed archaeologist who helped excavate Tutankhamen's tomb, died at Presbyterian Medical Center at age 70 from a hemolytic streptococcic infection contracted while returning from the Near East. Berlin, Deck 2. Hans Kerri head of the National Department of Church Affairs imposed censorship on the Protestant Confessional Synod and deprived it of all authoritative and administrative rights. Bishop Martin Niemoller said the church faced absolute subjugation by the state after Kerri warned he would dissolve the synod unless it cooperated. The group sought eight days to respond to the ultimatum.
Washington announces a $900 million loan to finance work relief and cash needs. If fully subscribed, public debt would reach about $30.5 billion. Morgenthau offers $450 million in 10 year bonds and $450 million in 5 year notes, with swap options for maturing 2 percent notes.

Albert Zakoura a 40 year old restaurant operator was jailed charged with the killings of his wife Ester and a man Harry Cochran who allegedly confronted him about talking to Ester too much. County authorities said first degree murder and the death penalty would be sought.
Topeka reports the PK Young Democrats of Kansas vow a strong bid to carry the state for the party next year despite talks about Gov. Alf Landon. James A. Farley is asked to lead a Wichita rally around January 18 with Robert S. Campbell announcing. Clyde Tingley agreed to speak at a February rally and district meetings across Emporia Wichita Garnett Coffeyville Hays Dodge City and Topeka drew about 2,000 attendees.
Four people died in Kansas auto accidents over the weekend. Mrs. Tom Hibpshman, 28, and her infant daughter perished near Norton when her car, emerging from a side road, collided with Guy Pack of Norton. C. J. Todd, 70, was killed near Tonganoxie after being struck by Gene Hunt, 17, as he walked along the highway. A head-on crash near Dodge City killed Arthur Schrump, 25, of Denver, and injured his wife and sister, with Mrs Schrump crossing a sand ridge when the car swerved into a truck. New Ford V-8 noted.
The death of Charles W. Amiden was ruled an accident after Dr. R A Schwegler Jr concluded he was overcome by carbon monoxide fumes while attempting to open a garage door. He had started the car to charge the battery and collapsed reaching the door handle. Doctors warn CO is deadly with sudden exertion.
President Roosevelt turned from his cottage at Warm Springs to view a government program aimed at reestablishing rural citizens. The Pine Mountain Valley project, covering 10 000 acres, has 7 families settled and 196 more represented as part of a drive to relocate urban farm workers to profitable farm work. During the week he will draft a Chicago speech for the American Farm Bureau federation.
Bishop James Cannon Jr of the Methodist Episcopal Church predicts national prohibition will return within ten years. Speaking at the Anti-Saloon League convention, he says the path will start with local option votes and state laws, mirroring the previous drive.
Topeka December report places former vice president Curtis in Kansas with relatives as he labels the Republican contest a free for all led by Alf Landon. He hedges on Hoover while predicting Roosevelt critique and notes economy and the Canada reciprocal trade issue may loom. Curtis plans talks with Landon and backs Landon if he runs, naming other GOP names Perry Borah Dickinson Vandenberg Knox Fish.

The National Woman's Party at its Columbus conference urged supporting only candidates favoring the equal rights amendment. Mary Murray of New York urged the amendment as working women’s salvation and supported placing women on juries in all states. The resolution asked President Roosevelt and Congress to pass the amendment and to repeal the economy act clause barring wives from federal jobs when husbands are employed.
Kansas City businessmen have pledged 85 000 dollars to lure one or both national party conventions next year. The chamber committee aims to raise 150 000 dollars as a guarantee to the Republican national committee by its December 16 Washington meeting to choose a convention city.
The Chinese government plans de facto autonomy for North China to keep central authority. Chiang Kai-shek and leaders agreed central control could not be retained otherwise. Ho Ying-chia was to present a program to northern leaders at Paoching Hopeh, while Japanese views split between favoring the plan and resisting full autonomy.
In Cambridge on December 2, Benson Ryan son of a New York publisher received a $160 fine and a six month suspended sentence for assaulting Harvard University janitor Frank Foster during a October 25 fracas. The district court also ordered two years monthly probation and Ryan must report to a probation officer. Foster, 57, was blinded in one eye and discharged from hospital. Ryan had been expelled from Harvard. his parents paid Foster $7,000 as amends.
Kansas State college crop judging team won first place at the intercollegiate contest during the international livestock show last night with 3868 points, followed by Nebraska University with 629 in second. Other grain and show winners included Cunningham of El Dorado in yellow cow region six, Walter L. Hiwke of Palmer third in oats, A G Siegrist of Hutchinson fourth in red winter wheat, Elmer Anderson of Lindsborg sixth in red winter wheat.
The county treasurer's office began noon hours today for taxpayers and will stay open at noon through December 20, the final day to pay the first half of the 1935 taxes before delinquency. Business was brisk and expected to rise until the deadline.
Relief chief Harry L. Hopkins announced that unemployment fell by 3,000,000 in the first two years of the Roosevelt administration. Last March 12,000,000 workers were jobless, down from a peak of 15,000,000 in March 1933 and 3,000,000 in March 1929.
Representative Edward T. Taylor, a veteran Colorado Democrat, returned to Washington and said Congress will run long, possibly until well after June. He added that a ten day window before the national convention would be fortunate.
The Sons and Daughters of New England plan their annual reunion and dinner at the Eldridge Hotel on Forefather's Day December 21. The Lawrence chapter dates to December 21, 1896 and has remained active. eight presidents have served, with a rule since 1918 that presidents are former chairmen of the executive committee and then vice president. Eligibility requires New England birth or residence, hereditary descent, or marriage to an eligible person, with a 25 cent membership and 25 cent annual dues. Applications to D. H. Spencer, treasurer, 1014 Mississippi St. Executive council meets tonight at 7 at Watkins Hall to finalize arrangements.
P. C. J. Todd, 70, was killed near his home two miles west of Tonganoxie when struck by a motor car driven by 17 year old Gene Hunt. The vehicle left the road. Hunt and three other occupants Grace Ward, Glendora Kaufman, and Charlene Kramer were hospitalized with injuries. Kramer fractured an arm, Kaufman had head lacerations, Hunt and Ward had minor injuries.
Purcell Oklahoma December 2 officials abandoned volunteer search parties after twelve days and 1090 volunteers scoured south central Oklahoma along the Washita river for Ches ter Comer linked disappearances. Officials had implicated Comer in the November vanishings of Ray Evans Shawnee attorney November 23 of L A Simpson and Simpson s son and of Comer s two former wives whose absences drew suspicion.
The China Clipper arrived in Guam from Manila after a 1,700 mile Pacific crossing in 10 hours and 50 minutes. Night conditions challenged the landing, but the massive flying boat touched down safely in the harbor. The flight carried the first Philippine Island airmail destined for the United States. It is scheduled to depart for Wake Island early tomorrow morning.
Weather bulletin notes fair conditions with rising temperatures at night and cloudy Tuesday in parts of eastern Kansas. Road conditions are fair overall with good at Coffeyville and rough at Emporia and Ottawa. Douglas county roads listed as good. Temperatures recorded show 84.5 at 7 p.m. yesterday and 25 at noon today.
