At William Frantz School in New Orleans, three Black students and a white minister's son faced taunts and shoves from women protesting integration. Police rescued the youths and reporters. a separate incident involved a minister's daughter entering the building.
Dr. Arthur Bestor, renowned critic of modern educational methods from Champaign Illinois, will speak at an open 8 p.m. Friday panel in the High School auditorium. The discussion topic is What Do We Mean by Education. Panelists include William Wolfe Lawrence superintendent Marston McCluggage Kansas University professor Mrs R Edin Browne PTA education chair and William Binns PTA Council president who will moderate. Sponsored by the Lawrence League of Women Voters and the PTA Council.
President Eisenhower voiced full support for Vice President Richard M. Nixon as the Republican Party leader for the next four years at a White House dinner. The signal came amid sparring with former rival Nelson Rockefeller, who argued a party needs a president as its head.

KU police report a theft on campus where Richard Wright found two money bags missing from a concessions truck near the Kansas University Union. About 50 dollars in small change was in one bag and 15 dollars in change in the other. the incident occurred around 10 am Wednesday as Wright collected money from vending machines.
Robert Tomarchin was found guilty of burglary and stealing for abducting Mr. Moke the talking chimp of the St. Louis Zoo last December. He received a four year sentence, with Moke’s custody in a civil suit pending in Miami.

Charles Schwartz born February 11 1877 near Worden died November 16 1960 at 83 years on the family farm. He lived in Douglas County most of his life with years in Bentonville Arkansas and later in Lawrence. Survived by wife Katherine and two sons Virgil and Lester a daughter Mrs Frank Lutz a sister Mrs Rose Hatfield three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral at Worden Church November 18 conducted by Rev Paul Weinert. Burial Worden Cemetery.
