Kansas Citizens' Committee urges state soldiers bonus support
John Madden, Kansas Citizens' Committee chair, appeals to voters to back the adjusted compensation for World War I soldiers at the November 7 election. He notes 78,000 Kansans served, 2,450 died, and argues 30 cents per $1,000 property tax is a small price for justice. The committee emphasizes nonpartisan duty and gratitude to veterans.

NOW A BOOZE FAMINE
San Benito reports say customs and prohibition agents caused liquor shortages along the coast. A raid in Ranchito south of San Benito yielded a wagon of tequila mescal and other Mexican liquors. About 1000 quarts of prickly pear liquor were moved from river channels to distant areas. Corpus Christi officers note thinning stocks and bootleggers facing supply difficulties. Rum runners may face air surveillance as dry agents reportedly use two airplanes.

Wet candidates lackin g St Paul Minnesota August 30
The wet and dry issue has been dropped in Minnesota congressional contests for November due to no wet candidates. Incumbents including Andrew J. Volstead are renominated as dry Republicans. Districts list nominees Sydney Anderson Frank Clague Charles R. Davis Oscar E. Keller Andrew J. Volstead Oscar J. Larsen Halbor Steenerson Thomas H. Schall. A likely close race in the seventh pits Rev O J Kvartle against Volstead. Mrs Lillian Cox Gault opposes Davis in the third. Democratic candidates exist in three other districts without declared positions. Also notes refugee expenses from Russia totaling 900000000000 roubles, now nearly worthless.
