City Firemen Get 10,000 From Tax Fund Distribution
The Lawrence Firemen's Relief Association should receive between 10 000 and 12 000 from the 74th annual Firemen's Relief Fund distribution. Funds support health accident and life insurance for 47 department employees with members paying part of their insurance costs. Statewide tax funds total 565 390 47 to 381 departments and the Kansas State Fire Fighters Association. Since 1895 the act has disbursed about 10 896 909 76 with local departments getting 10 677 009 66 and the State Firefighters Association 19 900 10. The tax fund is collected from Kansas fire insurance premiums and taxed at 3 percent of gross sales.
