Oldest KU graduate Henry V. Chase dies at 78
Henry V. Chase, 78, the oldest University of Kansas graduate at the June commence ment, died today at Trinity Lutheran hospital in Kansas City Missouri. He was KU class of 1880 and served as county clerk at Olathe for eight years before moving to Kansas City. A charter member of the Friends Quaker church, he also spent 22 years as secretary treasurer of Newby transfer and storage. He was born in Dover New Hampshire and moved to Iowa then near Shawnee in 1860 where his parents were missionaries. His son Harry V. Chase, 1913 KU engineering graduate, now runs Hercules Powder plant in Kenville New Jersey. He leaves his widow Anna Grace Chase, one son, four daughters Myre Alice Cox Eva Lucy Nagle Marianna Ackerman and one sister Phoebe Barnard. Funeral at 2 Sunday at Friends Quaker church Thirtieth street and Bates avenue. Burial in Olathe Kansas.
