Jake Stockwell Joe Brewer and Max Henry former Northeast high school football captains in Kansas City will enter the University of Kansas this fall. They formed a pact to enter together and stay until each graduates, then enroll as a group at the Jayhawker school. Brewer, a fullback and captain last year, and Stockwell, quarterback and 1925 captain, were three-letter athletes in football and excelled in basketball and track. Brewer earned all-state center in basketball, starred in track with two letters, and nearly set an interscholastic record in trials. Stockwell was a basketball forward and also competed in track, as quartermiler halfmiler and shot putter. The trio will try out for the KU freshman football squad.

After two weeks of intensive training at Camp Whitside five Lawrence units returned home yesterday morning. Troop 114th Cavalry Headquarters Company 1st Battalion and Companies D H and M formed the local contingent totaling 235 men and 13 officers. The Kane Sas headquartered 35th Division unit from St Joseph Mo was the only exception. The camp saw 1,250 men across 25 companies with a 24 hour infantry and cavalry maneuver amid rain and minimal sickness. Company M’s mule mascot Salome rode in the chair car due to space constraints.

Thomas Ring, a Michigan lumberman, told American Legion members in France that a planned ash tray souvenir mocked a naked woman in a soldier’s arms.
