Kansas University announces Boeing Scholarships for the 1965 66 academic year. Recipients include Hogle Bruce Hogle a freshman son of Mr and Mrs William L Hogle of 829 Missouri Street along with James Lucas Mapleton senior James Florez Kansas City junior and Wilson Weisert Glendale Missouri sophomore.
Rep. Robert F. Ellsworth Kansas urges removal of the 50 percent U.S. flag ship requirement for shipments to Soviet bloc nations. He released a telegram to President Johnson and echoed Kansas House delegation calls to open global wheat markets by ending licensing and credit restrictions.
A wreck on West 23rd Street near the Ousdahl Road point caused about 850 in damage at 645 pm Friday. No injuries were reported. Ernest P. Haley 33 of Topeka was driving a truck with 350 damage and John F Lebbert 42 of Topeka drove a car with 500 damage.
Leavenworth AP report states pathologist will finalize autopsy findings on Roy Nelson Jr. a seven year old found dead after an ambulance trip. Police detective Leo Schrey cites two possibilities a fall after an epileptic attack or a beating. Bruises noted. medical history lacking.
Neil Mecaskey of Lawrence has been reappointed Kansas representative to the Lewis and Clark Trail Commission by Gov. William Avery. The governor said the commission aims to re-establish markers along the Lewis and Clark trail.

Hazel J Gray died unexpectedly one year ago today on August 28 1964. A memorial note notes death is a heartache that time cannot heal and memories cannot be stolen. She is sadly missed by family and friends.
