Buck keeps cool nerves at Kansas fiddling championships
Buck, a pizza deliverer and part of Doctor Cotton, faces nerves while competing Sunday in the Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships. He jokes about humidity affecting banjo tuning, enjoys meeting new talent, and plays for fun with lawn chair audiences. Sisters Kirsten and Riley Shaw, from Lincoln, Neb., aged 7 and 10, also perform in youth fiddling, hoping for prizes to spend at the American Girl store amid hot weather and snow cones.
