Center Meeting Set for Tonight on County City Center

Angry mothers in western Wyandotte County protested near the school bus garage in Kansas City Kansas seeking bus service. They attempted to halt departing buses for the first day of school but were unsuccessful.

Recycle Roundup in Oklahoma City Nets Tons of Materials

A two day collection organized by the Sierra Club of Oklahoma City brought in about 20 tons of recyclables. Harry Allen reported the haul included 15 tons of paper 300 pounds of aluminum and five tons of glass. Materials will be sent to Norman for sorting and sold to fund larger containers for the next roundup in two to three months.

Building Costs For County Complex Rise With Inflation

The proposal outlines a total building package near 8.99 million dollars including 5.64 million in bonds. Costs breakdown show 3.3 million for general construction 900 thousand for mechanicals 350 thousand for plumbing and a sprinkler system 450 thousand for electrical work 400 thousand for grading utilities and miscellaneous equipment. With an assumed 4.5 percent interest the total levy would rise about 1.97 mills countywide and 1.20 more mills for city residents totaling 3.17 mills. Voters will decide on September 28.
