AP reports a renewed Paris street riot with clashes near the American Embassy and Montmartre. Police storm barricades as crowds topple shopfronts, wreck the Moulin Rouge, and march along the Champs Elysees. Two hundred demonstrators arrested and numerous injuries reported. some provinces calm.
Amare, driver of a heavy truck, was arrested for speeding on Usetts Street this morning by Officers Turner and Dowers. He posted a $10 bond for appearance in police court Friday morning after being charged with driving 25 miles an hour.
Kansas forecast shows unsettled conditions tonight and Thursday with warmer temperatures on Thursday. East region mainly cloudy tonight, all-clear elsewhere. Roads listed: Lodge City cloudy, Hutchinson Wichita good, Salina choppy, Pittsburg rough, Arkansas City rough, Dodge City muddy to fair, Emporia rough to muddy, Douglas County rough to slippery. Temperature notes include yesterday's extremes.
Fort Riley Kas Aug 24 AP Kansas National Guard troops stage an imaginary war with Nebraska over Kansas corn. Col Charles H Brown commands the 187th Infantry to defend crops while the 113th Cavalry from Iowa stays neutral. The mock battle runs 4 PM today through tomorrow afternoon.
A week after Mildred Doran John Pedlar Lieut W R Knope Jack Frost and Gordon Scott vanished at sea the Pacific search continues with destroyers a light cruiser and aircraft from Langley Aroostook scrutinizing the vast zone between San Francisco and Honolulu. Navy army and air units press the hunt as seven ships sweep a 421 mile front and Mauna Kea sightings yield no conclusive evidence.

President Coolidge and Mrs. Coolidge travel by car from Old Faithful Inn to Yellowstone Lake Inn for a headquarters stop. Bears along the route begged for sugar while crowds applauded as they arrived at the lake and viewed the bubbling pots before a fishing trip.
The ashes of Bartolomeo Vanzetti are to tour Europe after cremation in Boston. Miss Luisi Vanzetti will accompany, with stops in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, then Italy. Nicola Sacco’s ashes will be cremated and claimed by his Boston widow with two children.
In Geneva crowds shouted anti American slogans after the Sacco and Vanzetti executions. Police and detectives guarded the American consulate with 360 officers as rioters damaged League of Nations property. Foreigners evacuated, authorities apologized to the League. Consul S Pinkney Tuck narrowly escaped as a woman called for his death.
Florence Anderson, an American, was seriously wounded when a train from Mexico City to Los Angeles was attacked near Acaponeta Nayarit. About forty shots fired. fifteen others killed or wounded. Anderson sustained a left side wound with probable intestinal perforation. she was hospitalized in Mazatlan for surgery. Immediate actions were taken by the American consul and authorities of Nayarit.
Leavenworth Kans Aug 24 Arson charges against Frank I Sargent and his wife former Miss Julia Murray were dismissed at a preliminary hearing after key witnesses refused to testify claiming double crossing by county authorities. The couple had earlier been convicted of robbing the First State Bank at Lansing Kans.
Dr Florence Brown Sherban rector of the state bureau of child research at the University and superintendent of the eugenics department of the Kansas Free Fair at Topeka was in Topeka yesterday. The event marks the eighth Fitter Family contest to be held in Kansas September 12 to 17. Fifteen states follow Kansas in holding similar contests. The idea originated with Dr Sherban and Mrs Mary T Watts of Iowa. The plan began at the Kansas Free Fair in Topeka eight years ago. Philip Ackerman, head of boys and girls clubs under Senator Arthur Capper, has sent out about 400 family trait record blanks to clubs. Special prizes are offered for clubs with full participation and medals are awarded to all boys and girls who do not score below B in any of the nine units. The units include physical exams, measurements, eye ear nose throat exams, dental, psychological and psychiatric tests, lab findings, health habits and family history. The eugenics society hopes to instill pride in good family records similar to prize livestock or poultry awards.
Jones fights to the finish in the first round of the national amateur golf championship, overcoming a rough start to edge Maurice McCarthy of New York and stay alive for the title defense. George Von Elm also advanced by beating John McKinlay Jr. 3 and 2.
Chicago faces a potential fight for the 1932 Republican national convention as Vice President Charles G. Dawes and former Governor Frank O. Lowden vie for the nomination. The dispute threatens Chicago’s bid, though a Chicago Association of Commerce committee led by George F. Getz has formed to press for bringing the convention to the city.
Judge I N Williams of Sedgwick county district court was cleared by the Attorney General's office of charges of violating prohibitory laws after police said he was intoxicated in a car crash. A physician and two witnesses supported heat prostration as the cause, while trial in city court had been set for late tomorrow afternoon with possible a one week continuance.
Garberson of Wichita, a special agent for Farmers and Bankers Life Insurance, praised the Eldridge hotel during a visit to see J. R. Holmes. He commended the rooms, bed, clerk, and bell boys, noting a home atmosphere and no intrusive solicitations on his travels.
The first known Indian fair in the state begins today at Mayetta on the Pottawatomie Indian reservation. C M Blair of Haskell and the agency attends. Blandin, a Haskell graduate, is president. All exhibits are entered by Indians, and the rodeo is managed by Indians with Indian contestants. The fair aims to help Indians better themselves through competition.

Seventy six teachers attended the third day of the annual institute at Memorial High School in Douglas County. The program includes demonstrations by Miss Elizabeth Spencer and lectures by J K Stonecipher and Prof. William Williams with emphasis on new teaching methods and primary schooling. The institute closes Friday evening.
Fifty Boy Scouts left Lawrence yesterday for the Missouri Ozarks reached Colony safely, according to Ralph Childs scout executive. The group planned to depart Colony again today on a hard surfaced route, with expected continued progress despite the rough terrain.

They are Leone Krause dramatic soprano Chase Baromen tenor Ola Kurgan soprano Binnord Marlo mezzo-soprano Lucille Mousel soprano and Della Samoiloff soprano. Several come with regional ties from Michigan Wisconsin and Chicago.
The Riverside Oil and Refining Co asks the Supreme Court to overturn lower court rulings that the Cimarron river bed in Oklahoma, rich in oil deposits, belongs to adjacent landowners. About $1.6 million in royalties were paid in the case. the United States and Oklahoma contend the river bed belongs to the Creak Indians and the state.
The Douglas County Women’s Christian Temperance Union will hold its annual convention August 31 in Baldwin. Attorney General William A. Smith will speak on Sidelights on Our Problems. More than 100 delegates expected, with at least forty from Lawrence. Sessions at Baldwin Methodist Episcopal Church begin morning, afternoon, and evening programs feature devotionals, reports, and music. President Mrs J K Robinson to preside.
The Company M baseball team opened strong in the Guard camps at Camp Whitside, beating Troop Go from Yates Center 13 to 6. Highlighted by Gem Davis on the mound and Schiller Shore at second, with strong all around play by the nine. Lieut Chester Shore is athletic officer, Sgt Vernon Barrett manager, and Pvt Arthur Erickson captain. Practice continues nightly under Erickson. New York August 24 AP A permanent organization formed at the Brooklyn Y M C A to campaign for jobs for mid life aged men and women in forties. The group says New York employers use the age forty as a cutoff and cite Osler's warning that a man is near death at sixty. A fatal clash at Leipsic Berlin reports a single death and several injuries as crowds surged to a police station amid Sacco Vanzetti executions unrest.
