Jennifer Lyn Weyers 34 died Sunday Aug 20 2006 in Washington D C from motorcycle injuries. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10 am Saturday at St Theresa Catholic Church Perry with interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Cremation follows. The family will receive friends after a rosary at 7 pm Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home Valley Falls. Rex Emery Hubbard 75 of Lawrence died August 21 2006 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial follows in Wellington. He was born May 17 1930 in Norton to Rex E Hubbard and Barbara Johnson Hubbard. He moved to Wichita and graduated from Wichita East High School 1949 and Kansas State University 1954. A salesman, he started his own manufacturer representative business in 1978 and retired in 2001. He was an elder at First Presbyterian and active in the Northeast Beekeepers Association Bluebird Club and Miniature Train Club. Survived by Norma L Hamilton Hubbard his wife since July 26 1952 two sons Ronald and Richard and their wives of Lawrence Lebo two daughters Elizabeth Libby Smith Lisa Marsden and their husbands all of Lawrence and 11 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and a sister Barbara Wingfield. Memorials to Palliative Care Unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital or Lawrence Humane Society. Lawrence woman arrested on multiple charges after stop near 21st and Ousdahl
Lawrence police arrested Paula Annetta Hines, 45, after stopping her for driving a vehicle tied to a wanted felon in a domestic battery case. She allegedly discarded a beer can and officers recovered items from the trunk believed stolen from a local grocery. The felon remained at large Tuesday. Also reported: local burglaries and thefts with over 4,500 in property stolen between July 10 and Aug 1, a possible caretaker theft of an elderly man’s wallet and cash, and several fire calls in the Lawrence Douglas County area on Monday.
