Four thefts were reported to police Monday. Leroy Johnson reported the theft of four wheel covers and a battery from an auto at 431 Perry Street. Ray Wiggins said two bucket seats were stolen from a panel truck at Wiggins Used Cars on Harper Road. Eleanor Womack reported clothing stolen from Campus Mod Shop after 10 PM Sunday. Local Boy Improves After West 23rd Street Crash
A seven year old Lawrence boy Richard Dickson was struck by a car Saturday on West 23rd Street near Ousdahl Road. He was transferred to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka in satisfactory condition with head injuries broken ribs and a leg fracture. Frantic Digging For Boy and Horse In Sinkhole
In Trenton Florida a 50 foot sinkhole trapped a 19-year-old boy Cecil Davis and his horse. Deputies and Sheriff Parrish reported workers used buckets shovels and a dragline to widen an 18 foot opening to reach the bottom where about six feet of water lay.
