One check bore the date October 5, 1926 and the other October 16, 1926 Starr elected to the state senate in November that year he is a Republican candidate for re election. Starr chaired the legislative committee that investigated the Chicago sanitary district whowoo records. Endorsements not identified as being his handwriting Starr asked to explain the use of his name on the Zuta papers. Starr later said the checks were fees for three suits he represented Zuta in civil matters defending him from a personal injury judgment.
