NEA Denies Kansas Arts Funding Over State Cutbacks
The National Endowment for the Arts will not match federal grants to Kansas this year after Gov. Sam Brownback vetoed state aid to the Kansas Arts Commission. NEA spokeswoman Victoria Hutter said Kansas’s withdrawal of state support left the agency unfunded, ending a program that previously leveraged about $1.3 million in external grants with roughly $700,000 state investment.
