William Steven Sparks Sr 86 of McLouth Kansas died August 13 2013 after a cancer battle at home. He was born May 26 1927 in McLouth and enjoyed farm life especially tractor work and time with family. Survived by wife Esther 68 years and children Sue Steve John and Bob plus 14 grandchildren 28 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. The 1915 Oread High School building on KU campus was torn down after years of neglect. Built for teacher training and later a faculty club then university storage, the structure stood at the northeast campus edge before removal by B.A. Green Construction at about 80 thousand dollars. Graves notes the hill will be regraded and a grassy patch will remain unless future campus needs arise.
