West Virginia teen rescued after 24 hours in collapsed well
Leonard Boyce, 15, fell 14 feet underground while climbing a neighbor's water well near Parsley Bottom West Virginia. Rescue workers freed him after 24 hours trapped by rock and soil, using shovels and earth moving equipment. He survived in good condition and credits prayer and determination.

Louisiana March Continues in 105 Mile Protest Walk
A group of 20 Negro marchers left Hammond on the fifth day of their planned 105 mile trek from Bogalusa to Baton Rouge. Five whites were wounded and 12 Negroes arrested during a Sunday shooting at a tavern where marchers had gathered. Governor MecKeithen warned of arrests for law violations as the march proceeds toward the Capitol.

Guard Is Dead At Mississippi Plant
A guard at the Masonite plant in Laurel Mississippi was killed by two buckshot blasts to the face. The body was found inside the fence near the northern boundary around 3 45 a.m. Shots appeared to come from the nearby Woodworkers Union Hall. Another guard was fired on but uninjured when a car was sprayed with glass from a shattered windshield. Violence has flared since the strike began.
