Lebanese authorities say Israeli planes killed four and wounded three in three villages and several posts in Mt. Hebron, with Beirut reporting eight dead and 21 wounded. Mother from LA Linked to KC Child Abandonment Case
Susan Reita Carrington, a 20-year-old probation violator from Pittsburg, Kansas, identified as the mother who abandoned her 17 month old son on a Kansas City playground. She used the alias Gloria Angela-Marie Tofya of Los Angeles. She and companion Joe Marie Aguilar, 20, of Kansas City, were arrested on the abandonment charge and released on $1,000 bonds. Two Men Hurt In One Car Crash On Haskell Ave
Two men were hospitalized at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a Monday evening single vehicle crash on Haskell Avenue near 21st Street Terrace. Driver Marion S. An estimated 1,000 dollar fire damaged carpeting in a roll inside an under construction apartment building at Quail Creek Drive and Augusta Street in Lawrence. Firemen reported workmen extinguished the blaze before the truck arrived. Gasoline leaked from a car owned by Glen E. Freeman and was washed at 724 Mass. St. A separate fire in Eudora destroyed a 1961 Rambler owned by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cox from Elm Street. The vehicle, parked near a service station, was ignited by an electrical short and was reported by a Douglas County deputy sheriff assisted by the Eudora volunteer fire department.
