Twenty five saved from Erie storm wrecks six boats
In a dramatic rescue on Lake Erie, twenty five people in six boats were saved or reached safety after a fierce storm. The Mansfield fishing party including three United Lutheran ministers rode to Sandusky after sheltering at Middle Island, rescuing two Sandusky men from a drifting craft. Coast guard units and a freighter recovered several others from near Toledo and the North Shores area. Names of rescued individuals span Michigan, Ohio, and Michigan towns, with ministers from Mansfield and Shelby among the searchees.
